Investment casting process is also known as lost wax casting process or precision casting process. When we pan to make a metal parts we need to open a mold first. Then we inject the liquid wax into the mold. We will get a wax pattern which is made in the exact shape of the item to be cast.Next we need to coat the wax pattern with a type of refractory ceramic material. Wait until several days the ceramic material is dry. It is turned upside-down and heated in the de-waxing autoclave, until the wax was melt and drains out. The hollow ceramic shell becomes as expandable investment mold.
We heat and melt the steel until it is liquid in the furnace. Then these molten metal is poured into the ceramic shell,Wait until it the cool we will broken the shell and get the exact shape of the metal casting part. Next we can do the heat treatment, CNC machining it or surface treatment.
Investment casting is often selected over other molding methods because the resulting castings present fine details and excellent as-cast surface finishes. They can also be cast with thin walls and complex internal passageways.Unlike and casting, investment casting does not require a draft.
